The Dental Assistant Laboratory Skills Instructor operates under the direct supervision of the Program Director, contributing to the academic and professional development of students within the Dental Assistant program. This role is pivotal in delivering both theoretical knowledge and practical applications through a variety of instructional methods, including classroom teaching, clinical practicums, simulation exercises, and skills laboratory tracking. The position is designed to ensure students achieve educational objectives and gain hands-on experience necessary for their professional growth.

- Deliver assigned classes using prescribed courses of study, established texts, and instructional materials.
- Maintain the classroom and laboratory environments in optimal physical condition.
- Supervise students in laboratory and clinical settings, ensuring adherence to safety and educational standards.
- Review and manage the procurement of medical supplies necessary for laboratory experiences.
- Provide hands-on instruction through demonstrations and practical exercises.
- Evaluate student learning by assessing competencies through return demonstrations.
- Sign and date student skill checklists to document progress and competency.
- Manage simulation scenarios and assess student responses for effectiveness and accuracy.
- Communicate knowledge effectively with enthusiasm and confidence to inspire student engagement.
- Stay current with healthcare practices and standards relevant to the assigned courses.
- Perform related duties as required to support program objectives.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director.
- Degree or post-secondary education and relevant experience meeting state (TWC) and ABHES accreditation requirements.
- A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the field, with prior teaching experience preferred.
